The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals is a reciprocal program that gives 75 German participants the opportunity to spend one year living in communities throughout the U.S. on a program of study, work, and cultural immersion. CBYX depends largely on the generosity and hospitality of hundreds of U.S. communities that have opened their doors to young Germans throughout the program's history. In turn, these communities have been enriched by their involvement in a variety of ways:
- Families gain cultural insights and lasting friendships. A small monthly stipend helps to defray the costs of hosting. Find out more about hosting a CBYX participant in your home.
- Colleges diversify their student bodies and educational resources. German CBYX participants are excellent cultural ambassadors, and help promote interest in opportunities abroad to American students at their host colleges. Find out more about hosting a CBYX participant on your college campus.
- Companies benefit through the introduction of skilled interns in the workplace. German CBYX participants have already completed extensive training in their career fields through Germany's unique apprenticeship system. All participants have authorization for paid work provided directly by the U.S. Department of State. Find out more about having a CBYX participant work in your company.
